Day 2 Acceptance is the Key in Helping You with Any Weight Loss Program

acceptance weight loss program loving abundanceWhy do a lot of us have difficulty with weight loss programs? I believe one of the main ingredients to a successful weight loss regimen starts with acceptance of our bodies.

I confess.  I actually took a deep, long breath before I stepped on the weighing scale yesterday morning.  I had a feeling I was going to be in shock, wanting to flee and hide, I-can’t-believe-this-is-my-body mode.  By the way I forgot to tell you that when you get your weight, weigh yourself first thing in the morning when you haven’t ingested anything.  Not even water.  And remove all your clothes please.

The weighing scale read 136 pounds or 62 kilos.  Is that okay for my height and body structure?  I had no time to compute my BMI and stuff like that.  I took another long breath, looked at myself in the mirror and smiled.  Aloud I said, “And I love you anyway!”

Acceptance is the key in helping you with any weight loss program.  I would like to repeat that.  Acceptance is very essential in helping you with any diet regimen you are planning to do.

If you happen to be one of those people who accepts and loves your body with all its beauty and strength and grace and wrinkles and cellulites and what have you’s, then congratulations, you are on the right track.  However, if there is a small part of you who keeps wishing that your thighs are firmer, or that you should be taller, or that your boobs should be bigger and so on, then we need to learn to accept.

I had to say that aloud, “I love you body” because I recognize that for the longest time I have kept a harsh judgment on my body; and unknowingly tied my self worth to my body.  I would catch Daisy often reminding me to stand up straight and tall and not hunch.  But I guess there is a part of me that is ashamed of my body and thus, I would have this unconscious hunched posture.

So today I end this private war with my body by declaring and acceptance and love for it.  I looked at the card where I wrote the pounds and measurements and grinned.  Acceptance felt really good!  Onward to this 90 day to a slimmer waistline – slimmer and healthier me!
