Day 16-20 Mindful Eating and Weight Loss

mindful eating weight lossIt’s Day 16-20 and it’s time to focus on mindful eating to help us with our weight loss program. The past fifteen days was all about making a lifestyle change and for the large part this was having a love affair with movement. It was making a conscious decision to get up and get moving! It was incorporating exercise into our daily routine.

I suffered with temptations to give up exercising on certain days, most especially when I was exhausted after work. But having declared unto the world that I was committed, I kept on! And I survived the first fifteen days!

So it’s Day 16-20 and I’ve moved beyond being very conscious that I was on a weight loss program. Well sort of, it still pops every now and then. Hahahaha But then I don’t hate myself for it.

Now that exercising or taking up the walking habit has become “normal” for me, I could feel my body already anticipating the exercise rather than dreading it. I feel this is the biggest victory by far since I had given up movement for the past couple of months.

It’s time to take the step further into our 90 Day to a Slimmer Stomach-a slimmer and healthier me using mindful eating.

What does mindful eating have to do with weight loss?

A lot.

You see, mindful eating is being aware of what we are eating and how much we are taking in. Now if are always in a hurry, we can not eat mindfully. We have to really choose to stop awhile and eat and savor the food.

Let’s repeat that again. To savor the food and eat it mindfully, it would be best to sit down and enjoy and taste the food.

Yes! Taste the food. Mindful eating is savoring the food. Notice the smell. What is the texture of the food? Chew thoroughly. Don’t rush it. Pause. Chew. Enjoy your meal.

You see the slower you eat, the less you have to take in. If you have the tendency to gobble up food, you could eat a lot more than you intended.

Be grateful. As you eat, thank the food and visualize it nourishing your body and keeping you slimmer and healthier every day.

Now we have incorporated three very important things into our daily life —decision to make lifestyle changes by accepting our bodies, loving exercise and mindful eating. These three crucial habits are surely making a difference in our weight loss program. We are definitely on our way to a slimmer and healthier us!
