Day 11-15 Get Moving

get movingIt’s Day 11 to 15 of my 90 Days to a Slimmer Me Program – Shrink My Stomach!  One of my lifestyle changes that I included in this program is to make movement a part of my daily life.  Get moving!  Get moving!  Get moving! This is my new mantra!

When I visited my aunt in the hospital, I purposely parked some distance away from the main door so I could walk.  Then I chose the stairs instead of riding the elevator.  Three floors up wasn’t so bad.

I walked to the telephone all the time.  Yes, I don’t use cordless phones so I could get up my chair and walk to the table where the telephone is.  Move, move, move!

Shopping becomes a walking experience too esp. when I need to push heavy grocery carts.

Need more ways to keep moving?  There’s more.  What is important is to stop being a couch potato.  Get up from your chair and move.

Household chores with a double purpose.  You are finishing your task and moving too!

Mopping the floors.

Sweeping.

Mowing the lawn.

Raking the leaves.

Gardening.

Cleaning.

Choose a sport or activity you enjoy.  So moving becomes an enjoyable pastime.

Walk the dog.

Run around with the kids.

Play ball.

Grab a friend and go dancing.

Biking.

Hiking.

Swimming.

Badminton.

Wall climbing.

Join a fun run.

The most important thing of all is to enjoy it.  Just enjoy it.  If you find that you can’t do this alone, find an activity partner to do it with. Enroll in a fitness club.

I am now getting used to moving again, to exercising and burning calories! It’s not as difficult as it was the first two weeks when I had to overcome the temptation to just work in the computer than walk.  I happily put check marks on my diary.
