Loving Abundance

It’s Day 16-20 and it’s time to focus on mindful eating to help us with our weight loss program. The past fifteen days was all about making a lifestyle change and for the large part this was having a love affair with movement. It was making a conscious decision to get up and get moving! It was incorporating exercise into our daily routine.

I suffered with temptations to give up exercising on certain days, most especially when I was exhausted after work. But having declared unto the world that I was committed, I kept on! And I survived the first fifteen days! Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Day 11 to 15 of my 90 Days to a Slimmer Me Program – Shrink My Stomach!  One of my lifestyle changes that I included in this program is to make movement a part of my daily life.  Get moving!  Get moving!  Get moving! This is my new mantra!

As part of our wellness campaign in the city,  Loving Abundance together with Dynamic Minds Learning House, Inc. is bringing in thyroid cancer survivor,  Dr. Jesucita Sodusta, Ph.D., author of  “Natural Remedies” and a UCLA graduate, to conduct  the seminar dubbed Natural Remedies: A Practical Guide to Improving the Immune System and Preventing Disease  without Breaking Your Bank Account on August 28, 2010 from 1pm – 5pm at the Sacred Heart Center Social Hall, Cebu City, Philippines, with The Business Incubators  as  our Marketing Partner.

Using natural remedies, Dr. Sodusta survived thyroid cancer and has been teaching people how to prevent illness and be disease free for over three decades now.  We learned about Dr. Sodusta through Michelle’s parents who attended the same seminar in Surigao.  All excited about what they learned, Michelle’s parents readily campaigned that the family implement Dr. Sodusta’s recommendations.

And yes, I joined in the natural remedy movement as well and I am truly grateful. Michelle and I have benefited from their sharing and the Health Comes First: A Practical Guide book of  Dr. Sodusta which they sent and which participants may purchase during the seminar.

This is my Day 5 to 10 “Slim Down Diaries”.  What was going on in my mind the past 5 days?  There was rest and turmoil and in the end finding stillness.

Day 5

After a day of rest from exercise, I could still feel the tension in my body.  So I woke up early and did yoga stretches for half an hour.  It never fails to amaze me how yoga relaxes and releases all the tension both from the body and from the mind.  I could feel the tightness dissolve.  It felt really good.  We had a general meeting that night and a surprise shower party for one of our teachers who will be giving birth to a baby boy sometime next month.  Even if the day was kind of long, I took it really well. This was the reason why I ended up writing a post on Funny Weight Loss Quotes or Diet Quotes. It’s kind of silly but then there are days we just have to allow ourselves to be.

I woke up with a sore body more specifically sore arms. I wondered why. My legs were fine but my arms were aching. To top it off, I felt so sleepy and lethargic the whole day. Good thing, I had to teach Music to the Kindergarten class. Their laughter over the vocalization exercises kept me awake enough. But when I arrived home, I popped the big question. To exercise or not to exercise…now that was a toughie. I wanted to exercise badly. As I have committed to exercise daily. But I can really feel my muscles protesting. I could feel its exhaustion. If it could speak, I could hear it pleading to me to take a rest. Just for today. Pleeeeeasse. It screamed. Okay, I hear you! So instead I found myself browsing through the internet for funny weight loss tips sayings. Just for fun. And you can be sure I will be sleeping early. Read the rest of this entry »

This is Day 3 of my 90 days to a slimmer waistline- a slimmer and healthier me. The question pops every now and then. Do I really need to exercise to burn calories? Exercise to burn calories…I say the words aloud. I need to befriend these words. Exercise to burn calories. I repeat. I could feel my body resist a bit.

I remember I made a commitment to exercise daily! I have to remember I made that commitment because there are moments when I hear myself think, “Gosh I’m so exhausted at work today. Can I just skip exercising?” I had to bring my aunt to the doctor and I would arrive home later than usual. Temptations. Temptations. And it’s only Day 3! Imagine that! The commitment helps. Why do a lot of us have difficulty with weight loss programs? I believe one of the main ingredients to a successful weight loss regimen starts with acceptance of our bodies.

I confess.  I actually took a deep, long breath before I stepped on the weighing scale yesterday morning.  I had a feeling I was going to be in shock, wanting to flee and hide, I-can’t-believe-this-is-my-body mode.  By the way I forgot to tell you that when you get your weight, weigh yourself first thing in the morning when you haven’t ingested anything.  Not even water.  And remove all your clothes please.
